Birth Preferences For MadelineThe following is our “ideal” birthing plan. In the event that the situation becomes life-threatening for either Michelle or Madeline, we will, of course, yield to any request for life saving intervention.Admittance:

• 4cm of dialation or 4 min contraction intervals.
• Jamison to fill out all paperwork with the exception of only Michelles signature (if needed)

Hydration:

• Michelle would like to hydrate herself with water and juice as desired
• IV or Heparin locks are OK with consultation

Drugs, Surgeries, and Monitoring:

• If at all possible:please turn down beeping machines

• IV to be implemented only with complications
• Heart rate taken by hand via our Midwife
• We’d prefer Blood pressure measured with manometer and stethoscope
• Please don’t suggest induction or medication
• Please use positive words like “sensation” instead of “pain”

• Natural Oxytocin methods
• Pitocin / AROM: Only with complication and consultation

Movement & Props:

• Michelle’s a Yoga instructor: please help us find an effective range of positions and postures

Requested Room Environment:

• Soft Music
• Dim Lights
• Kind & Quiet Voices
• No Negativity

Photography:

• Still and video footage will be shot by our Birthing team members only.

Birth Team:

• Parents: Michelle and Jamison Bourque
• Midwife: Mia Pelt (or on-call)
• Dula: Aurora
• Friend: Althea Scully

Pushing:

• We will be using Hypnosis childbirth techniques

Perineal Massage:

• Please prepare a warm compress and lubricant for massage of the perineum.

Birthing Our Baby:

• In the case of shoulder dystocia: Please try different body positions for mom
• (rather than traction methods)
• Preferred Cord Cutter: Jamison or Michelle
• Please place baby skin-to-skin on Michelle’s chest after birth.
• Michelle and Jamison would prefer to pat-dry Madeline and wrap her themselves
• Extra Blankets would be awesome
• Please delay newborn procedures if at all possible. (bathing, eye drops, foot prints etc.)

Birth of Placenta:

• Michelle would like to deliver without the use of traction
• Our Doula will receive the placenta (to make into pills)

Breastfeeding:

• Michelle intends to breastfeed our baby
• Please don’t give Madeline any bottles, pacifiers, or artificial nipples
